Paris Hilton sues to stop exposed website

Filed under: Celebrity News on Tuesday, January 30th, 2007 by Celeb News | No Comments

Following the release of an infamous sextape and the contents of her cellphone being posted on the internet, Paris Hilton is no stranger to being exposed online. Now she’s sued a website that features her personal possessions like nude photos, medical records, raunchy videos and diaries.

The items featured on the site www.parisexposed.com were obtained after the hotel heiress failed to pay $208 in owed rental fees for a storage unit and the contents thereof were auctioned to the public.

The site was launched last week by Bardia Persa, who has claimed that it has had over a million visitors within two days.

Persa, however, refused to reveal how many people had paid the monthly $39.97 fee to view all the contents which purportedly include contracts, love letters, and prescriptions for herpes medication and anti-depressants.

“Ever wondered what it would be like to be a hot party socialite and have more money than you know what to do with? Experience it for yourself in this unprecedented and unauthorised release of the most personal, private and outrageous footage ever seen,” boasts the text on the free tour of the website.

On Monday Hilton’s lawyers filed a lawsuit demanding the site be shut down, calling it “one of the most reprehensible invasions of privacy of a celebrity”.

In court papers, the 25-year-old socialite claims the items now visible online were put into storage two years ago when she and sister Nicky moved homes.

The ‘Simple Life’ star added that the removal company concerned had been required to pay the storage fees, so when she heard that the fee hadn’t been settled and her possessions sold in a public auction, she was “shocked and surprised”.

The items were bought by Nabila and Nabil Haniss for $2775, the court papers claim, and then sold for $10-million to Persa.

Persa reportedly shipped the items, which include topless holiday pictures of the heiress, to Switzerland and began uploading them to the internet.

“I was appalled to learn that people are exploiting my and my sisters’ private personal belongings for commercial gain,” Hilton said in her statement to the court.

“We’re pissed and I feel for Paris right now,” her former boyfriend Joe Francis said to the New York Post.

“She’s been victimised yet again,” claimed the man who created the ‘Girls Gone Wild’ series.

“We want this thing down and we’re seeking monetary damages,” he added.

“They were taken for us only when we were dating,” Francis said of footage he filmed that is now featured on the parisexposed site.

“These guys have absolutely no right to use the images — they flat-out put them on the web with no permission. He messed with the wrong person.”

Francis admitted that he’d previously attempted to get the footage back.

“I was actually trying to negotiate to get my tapes back, but we were unsuccessful,” he said to E! News.

“They had asked me for $7m.”

“I shot the tapes and there are pictures of me, and somebody else disseminated it without my permission. This was meant to be a [private] video that I made with my girlfriend at the time, who was Paris Hilton,” he added.

The site, which features “new never before seen sex videos”, “250 personal and private videos” and “drug use that makes Tony Montana look like a missionary”, is getting Hilton’s attention for its invasion of privacy.

The heiress claims the information shown, which also includes her passport, could be used by subscribers to “steal my identity, or even worse, to harass or stalk me”.

Hilton is also suing the site for copyright infringement. Last week she filed copyright registrations for three written items featured in the belongings.

Elliot Mintz, Hilton’s publicist, said his client wanted all the items returned and the website closed.

In 2003 a private sex video featuring Hilton and her then boyfriend Rick Solomon hit the internet as ‘One Night In Paris’. Two years later the contents of her cellphone were broken into by a hacker who then published the numbers, pictures and videos on the internet.

Niki Taylor Sues E Channel

Filed under: Celebrity News on Monday, January 29th, 2007 by Celeb News | No Comments

Former model Niki Taylor, real name Nicole Renee Taylor, has filed a federal lawsuit charging E! Entertainment with slander and emotional distress in their profile “Boulevard of Broken Dreams.”

Apparently they repeatedly aired the premiere episode of the program about her even after she requested it be taken off the schedule.

Niki Taylor was named one of People magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People in 1991 and appeared in the 1997, 1998 and 1999 editions of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, as well as on the 1998 cover of their swimsuit calendar.

In her suit filed Monday in U.S. District Court in California, Taylor said E! Entertainment Television, Inc., E! Networks Productions, Inc. and one of its producers also committed fraud, breach of contract and invasion of privacy by saying the show would relate Taylor’s current life and professional endeavors but focused instead on difficulties from Taylor’s past, her attorneys said in a release, UPI reports.

The show was scheduled to debut Monday. Reportedly, E! Entertainment Television Inc., E! Networks Productions Inc. and a producer focused on Taylor’s past hardships and characterized her as a celebrity “who risked everything … and lost.”

“They neglected their journalistic obligations to report truthfully and accurately,” the complaint said. “(They) demonstrated a reprehensible disregard for the substantial harm their actions would cause to Ms. Taylor.”

Taylor said she regretted having to file the lawsuit because of her “long-standing and very positive professional relationship” with the network.

“My life is far from a ‘boulevard of broken dreams,’ ” she said. “(With) my recent marriage, successful fragrance line, clothing boutique and women’s foundation, it’s better than it’s ever been.”

The E! synopsis taken from its Web site describes “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” as, “In a place between heaven and Hollywood, dreams turn tragic and fame goes sour fast.”

“E! does not comment on legal matters involving the network,” spokeswoman Amelia Zimmern said Monday.

Nicole Renee “Niki” Taylor married Arena football player, Matt Martinez, on July 19, 1994, and their twin sons, Jake and Hunter, were born in December the same year. Taylor and Martinez divorced in 1996 and she later dated country singer Keith Urban from 2002 to 2005.

She became engaged to NASCAR driver Burney Lamar in October 2006. They were married on December 27, 2006, at the Grande Colonial Hotel in La Jolla, California. Instead of gifts, the couple asked for donations to be sent to Victory Junction Gang Camp, a camp for terminally ill children in North Carolina.

In 2001, Taylor went to rehab to treat an addiction to Vicodin, a prescription painkiller. On April 29, 2001, Taylor was critically injured in a car accident in Atlanta, Georgia. The driver of the car she was in was attempting to answer his cell phone, lost control of the car and smashed into a utility pole. Taylor was wearing her seat belt at the time and was not thrown from the vehicle; however, she suffered severe internal injuries, including a collapsed lung and serious liver damage, and she spent six weeks unconscious. Taylor was treated at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta and had at least 56 operations, as well as physical therapy.

Taylor rarely models anymore, but she opened a clothing store, Abbie and Jesse’s, in Cool Springs with her manager and friend, Lou Taylor (no relation), in July 2005. She also founded the Begin Foundation for the Advancement of Women in Business, which helps women with business ideas but who have limited resources.

Niki currently lives with her husband and two sons in a French colonial house on seven acres in Brentwood, Tennessee. “I love being a mom and the chaos it brings me,” she told People. “It reminds me how lucky and blessed I am.”
